Effects of different long-term crop rotation patterns on soil microbial biomass carbon and its turnover characteristics in yellow paddy soil

摘要: Exploring the soil microbial biomass carbon (MBC) turnover characteristics under different rotation patterns could provide theoretical basis for optimizing the cropping patterns. Taking the long-term experimental plot in yellow paddy soil as a platform, four different crop rotation patterns, including rice monoculture (RM), ricewheat rotation (RWR), rice-rapeseed rotation (RRR), rice-green manure rotation (RGR), were set up to collect 0-20 cm soil samples at different stages of rice and winter crops to determine the soil MBC content, carbon conversion enzyme activity, and soil respiration rate (Rs), and the turnover time of MBC (TT) was calculated. The results showed that, compared with the RM treatment, the annual average MBC content, (3-1, 4-glucosidase (BG) activity, cellobiohydrolase (CBH) activity, and respiration rate (Rs) increased significantly by 18.0 % to 26.7 %, 34.7 % to 56.8 %, 37.4 % to 86.5 %, and 158.2 % to 176.0 %, respectively, with the highest increase observed in the RWR and RGR treatments. In addition, the rotation treatments extended the TT by 0.10 to 0.63 a. There was a significant positive linear correlation between soil MBC, BG, CBH, and Rs, but there was a highly significant linear negative correlation between MBC variation (Delta MBC) and CBH variation (Delta CBH). Random forest and pathway analysis revealed that the amount of organic carbon returned to the field by winter crop residues (C), soil bulk density and total organic carbon (TOC) were the key driving factors affecting MBC, BG, CBH, and Rs. BG, CBH, and Rs were the key driving factors affecting TT. CBH has a negative regulation on TT, while BG and Rs has a positive regulation. C could directly regulate BG or indirectly affect Rs, BG and CBH by affecting MBC and TOC, thereby affecting TT. Altogether, crop rotation mainly affected soil MBC, BG, CBH, and Rs through the amount of organic carbon returned to the field by winter crop residues, thereby affecting MBC turnover and regulating organic carbon supply. Among different crop rotation patterns, RMR and RGR had the best effect.
