The synergistic effect of EDTA-Fe and 1-naphthaleneacetic acid on the growth and carbohydrate content of Scenedesmus obliquus

摘要: In this study, the phytohormones 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) was used in conjunction with EDTA-Fe to increase the biomass and carbohydrate content of Scenedesmus obliquus. It was found that after the addition of 20 mg center dot L-1 NAA and 2 x 10(-5) mol center dot L-1 EDTA-Fe, the biomass of S. obliquus is up to 3.32 g center dot L-1 which is significantly higher than 1.85 g center dot L-1 of the control group, and the carbohydrate content of S. obliquus is up to 46.03 % which is significantly higher than 33.02 % of the control group. Transcriptome analysis of S. obliquus cell samples showed that glucose phosphate convertase in the glycolytic pathway was promoted when S. obliquus cells underwent carbohydrate metabolism, providing more glucose 1-phosphate as a raw material for starch production. On the other hand, in the experimental group with NAA addition, not only starch synthase was increased, for making the promotion of starch elongation and synthesis, but also the activity of starch hydrolase was increased, for making a faster rate of hydrolysis energy and ultimately to a faster growth rate of S. obliquus cells.
