Mapping QTLs for stigma exsertion-related traits in two sets of CSSL populations of Oryza sativa cultivars using RSTEP-LRT method

摘要: Stigma exsertion-related traits (SERT) directly affected hybrid rice F1 seed production. To understand the genetic basis of SERT, we analyzed six SERT traits such as the sum of stigma and style length (TSSL), style length (SYL), stigma length (STL) and double stigma exsertion ratio (DSER) using two chromosome segment substitution line (CSSL) populations. In the XC-CSSL population derived from Xiushui 79 as a recurrent parent and C bao as the donor parent, a total of 14 quantitative trait loci (QTLs) were identified using a likelihood ratio test based on the stepwise regression (RSTEP-LRT) method. Among them, qTSSL4.2 and qSYL8 were identified simultaneously in three environments with an average LOD scores of 8.09 and 4.12 and explained 26.50% and 16.37% of the phenotypic variance. And the C bao allele contributed an increasing effect at these two loci. In the CL-CSSL population derived from C bao as a recurrent parent and Ludao as the donor parent, 18 QTLs were detected using RSTEP-LRT method, in which qTSSL3 and qDSER3 both linked with RM570 were identified in three environments with an average LOD scores of 4.93 and 3.58. The favorable marker allele at these two loci were from C bao. QTL interval linked with RM349 located on chromosome 4 were detected repeatedly in both TSSL and STL in the two populations and also novel loci found in this study. These results can be beneficial for marker-assisted selection in developing male sterile lines with high out-crossing.
