摘要： Effect of germanium was investigated in 2 experiments each with 144 chickens. In Experiment 1 the birds were divided into 9 groups, fed basal diet supplemented with 0, 1, 10, 1 00 or 1 000 ppm Ge as GeO2 and 1, 10, 1 00, 1 000 ppm Ge as GeCl4, respectively. Germanium dioxide at 10 ppm improved growth and feed conversion by 12% and 7.5% (p < 0.05), respectively. In contrast, germanium tetrachloride did not promote fattening of the birds and performance slightly decreased with 100 ppm. 1000 ppm Ge both from GeO2 and GeCl4 was high toxic and all the birds died in 17 days and 28 days. In Experiment 2, the birds were divided into 8 groups, fed basal diet and 0, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 ppm Ge as GeO2. Results referring growth promoting effect appeared slightly by 3.3% (5 ppm vs. controls). No signs of poisoning were observed in all groups.
