摘要: Polycaprolactone (PCL) is an aliphatic polyester renowned for its exceptional qualities in food packaging (FP) applications. Its biodegradability and ability to produce high molecular weight polymers through ring-opening polymerization make PCL particularly valuable. Films made from PCL (PCLf) are characterized by excellent water resistance, enhanced food quality, and extended shelf life, rendering them ideal for use in edible FP. However, despite these advantages, PCLf presents challenges concerning its modulus and stiffness, prompting researchers to investigate ways to improve its mechanical properties. Strategies to enhance PCLf include the addition of plasticizers to increase flexibility, blending with other biopolymers to leverage combined benefits, using cross-linkers for better structural integrity, and incorporating bioactive materials for antimicrobial effects. By opting for PCLf in food packaging, the industry can promote sustainability, reduce environmental impact, and ensure food safety while providing consumers with eco-friendly alternatives that preserve quality.
