摘要: Mitohondrial genome (mitogenome) of Haemonchus contortus, a pathogenic nematode of considerable economic importance to small ruminants, enhances our comprehension of its taxonomy, population genetics and evolutionary history. In this study, we present the first complete mitogenome sequence and annotation of the Chinese parasitic nematode H. contortus ChinHco. The mitogenome spans 14 092 bp, comprising 12 protein-coding genes, including cox1-3, nad1-6, nad4L, cytb, and atp6, 22 transfer RNA genes, two ribosomal RNA genes (rrnS and rrnL), and a non-coding region of 651 bp. Phylogenetic analysis confirmed the closest genetic relationship between the strain ChinHco and MHco3(ISE).N1. Furthermore, the strain ChinHco clustered with other H. contortus strains as expected, and formed clear branches with other members of the Trichostrongyloidea nematodes. These findings provide valuable insights into the genetic diversity and evolutionary relationships within this species.
