摘要: Sthenoteuthis oualaniensis (Lesson, 1830) is one of the important economic squid resources in the South China Sea. The composition, age, and growth pattern of its spawning population are the basis for understanding its life history. The samples of squid were collected from the South China Sea with light falling-net fishing vessels in spring, summer, and autumn of 2019 in the study. The age information of statoliths was analyzed to explore the sexual differences among various populations and growth patterns. Mantle length and body weight of the summer fishing stock were significantly different from those of the autumn fishing stock and spring fishing stock (P < 0.05) and also showed significant sexual differences (P < 0.05). The body weight-mantle length relationship was significantly different between the samples respectively caught in spring and summer (P < 0.05). The age of statoliths and inverse calculation results indicated that the dominant age range was 170 to 210 d. The age distribution showed no significant sexual difference among sampling stations (P > 0.05). The peak hatching periods were respectively June to August, September to November, and January to February. The spawning stocks of summer, autumn, and winter were the dominant spawning stocks. Both mantle length and body weight of the summer stock were best fitted with exponential curves, whereas mantle length and body weight of the autumn stock were fitted with von-Bertalanffy and logistic curves, respectively. Within 160 similar to 260 d, the growth rates of mantle length and body weight of the autumn stock were the largest. The growth rates of mantle length and body weight of S. oualaniensis were significantly different among the three stocks respectively caught in summer, autumn, and winter. (c) 2022 Elsevier B.V.
