Changes in liver triglyceride metabolism in broiler chickens with cold-induced ascites syndrome

摘要: To investigate the changes in liver triglyceride (TG) metabolism in broiler chickens with cold-induced ascites syndrome (AS), 216 one-day-old male Ross 308 broiler chicks were randomly allocated into two treatment groups (control and AS) with 6 replicates. Starting on day 14, the birds in the AS group were exposed to low ambient temperature (17°C during the daytime and 14°C at night) to induce AS.Birds in the AS group had lower (P<0.05) TG contents and lower fatty acid synthase (FAS), malic enzyme (ME) and acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) mRNA expression in the liver at 21 days of age. They also exhibited lower (P<0.05) FAS and apolipoprotein B (ApoB) mRNA expression and microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTTP) protein expression in the liver at 35 days of age. However, no difference was observed in the ApoB mRNA expression and MTTP protein expression in the liver at 21 days of age or the TGcontent and ME and ACC mRNA expression in the liver at 35 days of age between the control and AS broilers. The results of this study indicate that the decreased liver TG content observed in the AS broilers at 21 days of age may be the result of reduced lipogenesis and unchanged lipid transfer in the liver; the unchanged liver TG content observed in the AS broilers at 35 days of age may be the result of reduced lipogenesis and lipid transfer in the liver.
