Fusarium wilt of cauliflower caused by Fusarium equiseti in China

摘要: Widespread and severe wilt of cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis L.) plants was observed during 2014-2016 in Shandong Province, China. Symptoms of the disease included wilted leaves, brown stems and root rot. Infected cauliflower plants eventually wilted and died within 2months. A fungus was consistently isolated from diseased tissues and pathogenicity tests showed it was the causal agent, producing similar symptoms as those observed in the field. Based on morphological characteristics and molecular analysis of the partial sequences of internal transcribed spacer rDNA (ITS-rDNA), the translation elongation factor 1 (EF-1) and the mitochondrial small subunit ribosomal (mtSSU rDNA), the pathogen was identified as Fusarium equiseti (Corda) Sacc. This is the first report of F. equiseti causing cauliflower wilt. Resume: La fletrissure grave et generalisee du chou-fleur (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis L.) a ete observee de 2014 a 2016 dans la province du Shandong, en Chine. Les symptomes de la maladie incluaient la brunissure de la tige et le pourridie des racines. Les plants de chou-fleur infectes commencaient par fletrir, puis mouraient en moins de deux mois. Un champignon a ete invariablement isole a partir de tissus infectes et les tests de pathogenicite ont montre que l'agent causal produisait des symptomes semblables a ceux observes au champ. En se basant sur les caracteristiques morphologiques et l'analyse moleculaire des sequences partielles de l'espaceur transcrit interne de l'ADNr (ITS-ADNr), du facteur d'elongation 1 (EF-1) de la traduction et de la petite sous-unite ribosomique mitochondriale (mtSSU ADNr), l'agent pathogene a ete identifie en tant que Fusarium equiseti (Corda) Sacc. Il s'agit de la premiere mention de F. equiseti causant la fletrissure du chou-fleur.
