Study on uniformity and thermal stability of strip LED lamps in pea growing applications

摘要: In addition to light intensity, light quality, and photoperiod, light intensity uniformity of horticultural lighting luminaires is important for plant growth. Moreover, thermal stability of a luminaires has a significant impact on plant growth. In this paper, design optimization of light intensity uniformity of horticultural lighting luminaires is carried out by using the evaluation method of radiometric. A skewness-based formula is derived to solve the problem of uneven light intensity distribution, and a particle swarm optimization algorithm is applied to optimize horticultural lighting luminaires. Based on the design results, thermal stability of plant growth lamps was tested by simulation in FLOEFD software. Based on the design and simulation results, strip horticultural lighting luminaires is fabricated. The test results showed that the longitudinal light intensity uniformity of a single horticultural lighting luminaires was 71%, the standard deviation of color mixing was 0.0025144, and the maximum temperature of the surface of the luminaires was 70.5 degrees C. Applying the lamps to pea growth, the longitudinal height uniformity was 52.5% and the longitudinal weight uniformity was 49.7%. The results of the experiments on pea growth confirm that improving the uniformity of horticultural lighting luminaires is beneficial to plant growth.
