Based on the AMSR-E Grassland Snow Depth Monitoring of the Northern China

摘要: Snow depth is an important parameter for snow monitoring. It is essential not only in understanding of land surface processes but also in snow disaster assessment. Based on the AlVISR_E data, Remote sensing was used to monitor the nine provinces of China, including Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Sichuan, Tibet, Gansu, Qinghai and Xinjiang. Some conclusions shows that: (1) Snow depth in Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Gansu and Xinjiang show an upward trend as a whole, while a downward trend in Sichuan, Tibet and Qinghai. (2) In the space domain, snow depth shows the "multicentre" pattern as a whole during the monitoring period. The centre of the frequently-occurring snow area are Tibet, Xinjiang and Qinghai at the beginning of the monitoring period, while the northern part of Sichuan, the Northeastern part of Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang in the later monitoring period. (3) During the monitoring period, the snow-cover area of Inner Mongolia, Tibet, Qinghai, Xinjiang and Gansu, where the snow depth is shallow, are larger. The snow-cover area, where the snow depth is more than 10cm, is relatively larger in Tibet, Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and Heilongjiang. The results of this paper may provide disaster prevention and mitigation decision-making reference for the Grassland management departments.
