摘要: This study aimed to investigate the effects of five main cotton varieties (CCRI 49, Chuangmian 508, Tahe 2, J206-5, and Zhongzhimian KV2) on the growth, reproduction, and feeding preferences of H. armigera in Xinjiang. The feeding preferences of H. armigera were evaluated using the leaf disc method, and its growth, development, and reproduction were investigated using the leaf feeding method. The antifeedant experiments revealed that H. armigera preferred to feed on CCRI 49, followed by J206-5, Tahe 2, and Zhongzhimian KV2, and had the least preference for Chuangmian 508. The mortality rate was highest at 33% for the Chuangmian 508 group, and lowest at 21% for the CCRI 49 group. In the Chuangmian 508 treatment group, the pupation rate reached 67%, with a pupal malformation rate of 30%, an emergence rate of 55%, and an egg hatching rate of 43%. In contrast, the CCRI 49 treatment group exhibited a pupation rate of 79%, a pupal malformation rate of 20%, an emergence rate of 73%, and an egg hatching rate of 71%. The study revealed that Chuangmian 508 had the smallest feeding area, significantly hindering H. armigera's growth and development. Therefore, field testing is required to validate the laboratory findings on feeding preferences, so as to promote the cultivation of Chuangmian 508.
