Effects of partial substitution of dietary fishmeal by fermented soybean meal on growth, amino acid and protein metabolism of juvenileNibea diacanthus

摘要: An 8-week feeding trial was conducted to study the effects of replacing dietary fishmeal with fermented soybean meal (FSM) on the growth performance, feed utilization and protein metabolism ofNibea diacanthus. Five isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets were formulated to contain 0, 90, 180, 270 and 360 g/kg FSM, replacing approximately 0%, 12.5%, 25%, 37.5% and 50% of the FM protein (designated as FSM0, FSM9, FSM18, FSM27 and FSM36, respectively). Results showed that the weight gain (WG), specific growth rate (SGR) and final body weight (FBW) of juvenile fish decreased with increasing substitution levels of FSM. The FSM36 treatment showed significantly lower feed efficiency (FE) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) than the control. Both feed intake (FI) and protein retention (PR) were significantly lower in FSM27 treatment compared to control group. The protein and lipid content of whole body, muscle and liver decreased significantly with increasing substitution levels. In addition, lysine and methionine composition of the whole body and muscle was significantly correlated to those of dietary FSM replacement levels. Hepatic insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) gene expression level significantly decreased in fish fed the diet with 360 g/kg FSM compared with the control group. These results demonstrate that dietary FSM level may affect fish growth by reducing FI, and deficiency of essential amino acid, which partly accounted for the down-regulation of IGF-I gene expression level in liver. Analysis of WG and FE by broken-line regression model indicated that the supplementation of FSM could be up to 227.3 g/kg and 196.5 g/kg at the dry matter basis inN. diacanthus, which representing up to 31.57% and 27.29% of dietary FM protein replacement, respectively, in this study.
