Reconstructing Underwater Temperature Spatial Distribution Using Ultrasound Tomography

摘要: Temperature has a great impact on underwater environment. In this study, a grid-based scheme of underwater ultrasound tomography was proposed to reconstruct temperature spatial distribution. Computer simulations showed that ultrasound tomography reconstructed the distributed temperature pattern of Daya Bay seawater. The water pool experiment showed that the reconstructed temperature was consistent with in situ temperature. The ultrasound tomography had advantages in reducing measurements to extract the temperature spatial pattern over the in-situ method, and in increasing measurement accuracy over low frequency acoustic scheme. The results suggest that underwater ultrasound tomography may provide a valuable approach to reconstruct high spatial resolution temperature distribution at small-scale coastal, estuary, and sea-land interface regions.
