Effect of Medicago and Bromus on the vegetation restoration in the degraded ecosystem

摘要: An experiment was executed to study the characteristics of restoring vegetations after Medicago sativa and Bromus inermis were planted in the abandoned channel of a degraded ecosystem. The results indicated that vegetations in the degraded ecosystem restored rapidly after Medicago sativa and Bromus inermis were planted. Vegetation coverage and aboveground biomass rose to over 90% and 4900 kg/hm(2). Species diversity increased. The diversity index of restoring vegetation induced by Medicago sativa increased significantly more than that of restoring vegetation induced by Bromus inermis. However, stability of the community was poor this year when Medicago sativa and Bromus inermis were planted. Then, natural species rose rapidly to 8-12 species in September. Among these natural species, the number and important value of annual plants were significantly more than those of perennial plants. Stability of the community of restoring vegetation induced by Bromus inermis, which had more annual plants, was poorer than that of restoring vegetation induced by Medicago sativa.
