Influence of Nutrient Formula, Concentration and pH on the Growth of Dracaena cambodiana Hydrocultured in Glass Container and Optimizing for Nutrition Supplement

摘要: Tropical plants Dracaena cambodiana were hydrocultured in a glass container to evaluate the supplement of nutrients for plant growth in hydroculture during the production and ornament application periods. The experiments was arranged in an orthogonal design of 3 factors and 3 level treatments with Yamazaki nutrient solution for experiment, Hoagland's solution and Knop's solution in half, standard and 1.5 times strong standard concentration as well pH value 5.5, 6.5 and 7.5 respectively. Plant height, root length, leaf length, new leaf number and root activity were measured on the initial day and 90th day. The change of nutrient concentration has the strongest effect on plant growth, leaf photosynthesis rate and root activity of the plant hydrocultured in the solution with range analysis value 1.36 for plant height increment and 8.78 for root activity, followed by nutrient formula and pH. The solution of pH 5.5 was the best for new leaf number and plant height, but leaf grew vigorously with highest chlorophyll content and net photosynthesis as pH 6.5. Optimal combinations of the nutrition supplement for this plant hydroculture in container are Yamazaki's nutrient solution for experiment with standard concentration and pH 5.5-6.5 of solution based the integrated evaluation of the growth.
