摘要: In the tate cropping season of 1996 in Guangzhou, China, a high-yielding Indica rice variety of Te-San-Ai 2 was planted at elevated (600 mu mol mol(-1)) and current ambient (350 mu molmol(-1)) CO2 concentrations until harvest. At elevated CO2 concentration, the seed set rate and 1000-grain weight were enhanced, meaning the sink was filled better, but the number of panicles per plant and the number of grains per panicle were reduced, indicating that the sink size was decreased. Overall, the grain yield was enhanced at elevated CO2 concentration. The cooking quality as characterised by amylose content, gel consistency and alkali spreading value was not altered by CO2 concentration. The content of 15 amino acids digested from kernel protein and the total amino acid amount declined greatly at elevated CO2 concentration, indicating that the nutritional quality was significantly reduced. We propose that new rice varieties adaptive to elevated CO2 concentration should be developed and modification of cultural practices be made in the future CO2-enriched surroundings.
