Joint Application of Isaria fumosorsea Chitinase and Azadirachtin as Biopesticides against the Diamondback Moth, Plutella xylostella L. (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae)

摘要: Chitinase (produced by Isaria fumosorosea) and azadirachtin were evaluated for their antifeedant effect, growth inhibition and toxicity to 2nd instar larvae of the diamondback moth Plutella xylostella L. (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae) under laboratory conditions. Different concentrations of azadirachtin did not exhibit significant inhibition of chitinase activity, while the combined application of chitinase and azadrichtin acted as potent antifeedant and reduced the feeding rate and body weight of the larvae. The chitinase + azadirachtin treatment also caused a significant reduction in the rates of successful pupation and adult emergence. The lowest median survival time (LT50) (1.27+/-0.10 days) was recorded at chitinase + azadirachtin treatment. Obtained results herein revealed the possible compatibility of chitinase with azadirachtin which may provide some basic information regarding the development of enzyme based integrated pest management programs against P. xylostella.
