Effects of Alternating Temperature Combining with Growth Regulators on Carbohydrate Content during Lily Scale Cutting Propagation

摘要： Lilium cv. 'Elite' were used to study the effects of GA(3), IBA and temperature treatments on scale cutting propagation. The content of starch and soluble sugar in the top, middle and base of the mother scale were measured by colorimetry and HPLC, respectively. The results indicated that after soaked in GA(3) or IBA solution, the constant 25 degrees C incubation temperature was favorable for the starch degradation compared to 25 degrees C-15 degrees C variable temperature. The scales processed by IBA and GA(3) respectively reacted variously to low temperature. IBA combined with 5 degrees C pretreatment was conducive for the formation and growth of bulblets, as it accelerated the decomposition as well as transformation of both starch and sucrose in the mother scales, and promoted the utilization of reducing sugar. On the contrary, GA(3) combined with 5 degrees C pretreatment delayed both the degradation of starch in the mother scales and the utilization of soluble sugar in the bulblets.
