Identification of Pestalotiopsis clavispora causing brown leaf spot on Chinese bayberry in China

摘要: A brown leaf spot disease was observed on Chinese bayberry (Myrica rubra) in Zhejiang Province, China during 2012 and 2014. A fungus was isolated from diseased leaves showing typical symptoms of brown leaf spot. The pathogenicity of the isolated fungus was confirmed through inoculation experiments. Based on morphological characteristics and molecular analyses, the pathogen was identified as Pestalotiopsis clavispora (G. F. Atk.) Steyaert. This is the first report of P. clavispora causing brown leaf spot on Chinese bayberry in China. ResumeEn 2012 et 2014, une maladie de la tache brune a ete observee sur la fraise chinoise (Myrica rubra) dans la province du Zhejiang, en Chine. Un champignon a ete isole a partir de feuilles infestees affichant les symptomes typiques de la tache brune. La pathogenicite du champignon isole a ete confirmee par des epreuves d'inoculation. En fonction d'analyses moleculaires et de ses caracteres morphologiques, l'agent pathogene a ete identifie comme etant Pestalotiopsis clavispora (G. F. Atk.) Steyaert. Il s'agit de la premiere mention de la maladie de la tache brune causee par P. clavispora en Chine sur la fraise chinoise.
