Spatiotemporal dynamics of vegetation net primary productivity in Chinese ecological function conservation areas: The influences of climate and topography

摘要: The Chinese Ecological Function Conservation Areas (CECA) play a pivotal role in safeguarding national ecological security. Vegetation growth status serving as a key indicator for assessing ecological environmental safety. Understanding the spatiotemporal dynamics and driving factors of Net Primary Productivity (NPP) is a key to supporting ecological protection policies. In this study, we conducted a systematic analysis of the spatiotemporal evolution of vegetation NPP and its dominant influencing factors within CECA from 2000 to 2019, utilizing NDVI data, meteorological data, Theil-Sen estimator, and GeoDetector. Our findings revealed significant seasonal and interannual variations in vegetation NPP that were significantly influenced by climatic factors. Notably, different types of ecological function conservation areas exhibited notable spatial disparities. Furthermore, our study highlighted the changing characteristics of climate and topographic factors' impacts on vegetation NPP over time. These finding enhance our understanding of China's ecological environment evolution patterns while providing valuable references for formulating more precise and effective policies and management measures for ecological protection.
