Efficacy of MON65500 for controlling take-all of irrigated spring wheat in Northcentral China

摘要: Take-all of wheat caused by Gaeumannomyces graminis is an important disease in the major wheat producing areas of Gansu Province and is considered a serious disease on 20% of the provincial wheat producing area. Yield reductions due to the disease often range from 10 to 30%, and may be as much as 50%, depending on the crop rotation and level of Fertility. Various rates of the fungicide MON65500 were evaluated at six locations in Jingtai County from 1996 to 1998 as seed treatments to control take-all of irrigated spring wheat. MON65500 reduced the severity of root infection and occurrence of white heads, and increased grain yields by 4-27% depending on the product rate and location. The lowest rate of this fungicide reduced the occurrence of white heads, but the greatest reduction in disease was observed when higher rates were applied, with no evidence of phytotoxicity with any of the rates applied. MON65500 can therefore provide significant control of take-all and increase grain yields of spring wheat. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
