摘要: Studies were completed to determine germination percentage, the contents of soluble sugar, soluble protein and free amino acid, and the activities of POD and CAT in pear stock seeds during cold stratification at 4 degrees C. Cold stratification completely broke dormancy of mature pear seeds. The optimal chilling times for Putts betulaefolia Bge. (P. betulaefolia Bge.) and Pyrus calleryana Dene. (P. calleryana Dcne.) seeds were about 40 and 50 days. respectively. The soluble sugar and free amino acid contents and peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT) activities increased with increasing periods of cold stratification, while soluble protein content decreased at the same time. These changes were correlated positively (soluble sugar, amino acid, POD. CAT) and negatively (soluble protein) with the breaking of dormancy in pear stock seeds after cold stratification.
