Chinese New Issued Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides in Food Has Enhanced Accordance with International standards for Pesticide Residues

摘要: In April 1st 2014, China has issued the new pesticide residues standard, Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides in Food, which will be put into implementation in August 1st 2014 and replace the former Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides in Food. As the only mandatory national standard for pesticide residues in food in China, the new standard has improved and complemented the former standard, and showed China's emphasis on food safety and an endeavor in formulation of relevant standards. By comparingthe new standard to the ADI (Acceptable Daily Intake) for 37 kinds of pesticides and the MRL (Maximum Residue Limit) for 4 kinds of pesticides among them in the national pesticide residues standard formulated by the CAC (Codex Alimentarius Commission) and revised by the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization)AA/HO (World Health Organization) on September 2013, this paper has indicated China's progress in formulating standards for food safety and pesticide residues and also an endeavor in connecting with the international standards.
