Development of a wireless sensor network for measuring spray deposition in aerial applications

摘要: Understanding spray deposition is important in agricultural aerial applications. Wireless sensor network technology has the potential to reveal fine-grained, dynamic changes in monitored variables of outdoor landscape. A wireless sensor network is developed to measure the spray deposition in near real-time in aerial spraying application. The structure of the network and the hardware and software design are introduced in this paper. Linear regression equations between output voltage of the deposition sensor and deposition volume on the sensor are outlined. The system is field tested in a spray using aircraft Thrush G510 with ten AU-5000 atomizers. The test result indicates that compared with the measurement method of water-sensitive paper sampling, the degree of fit of the distribution pattern curve is 0.86.
