Effects of fertilizers and manure on yields of wheat and oilseed: Results from a 22-yr fertilization trial in rain fed region of China

摘要: A long-term (1982 to 2003) field experiment was conducted to determine the effects of N, P and K mineral fertilizers and farmyard manure on seed yield of 18-yr winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and 4-yr oilseed (3-yr canola, Brassica napus L.; 1-yrflax, Linum usitatisimum L.) on a Huangmian soil near Tianshui, Gansu, in the Loess Plateau of China. Two main plot treatments were without and with manure (M), and four sub-plot fertilizer treatments were check (Ck), N, NP and NPK. Seed yield decreasedin the order of MNPK >= MNP>MN >= NPK > NP > M > N > Ck for wheat and MNPK > NPK >= MNP > MN >= NP > M > N > Ck for oilseed. Seed yield of wheat in Ck in 2002 was 36% of that in 1982. The effect of manure and fertilizers on seed yield was in the order ofM > N > P > K for both crops. Yield response to fertilizers (i.e., % increase in seed yield from fertilizers over the Ck) depended on M application as well as the kind of crop. For both crops, yield response to N, P and K fertilizers was much greater inno manure compared to manure treatments. Without manure, yield response to N, P and K fertilizers was greater on oilseed than wheat. With manure, yield response to N and P fertilizers was greater on wheat than oilseed, but the yield response to appliedK was greater on oilseed than wheat. The findings suggest that it is important to have a balanced application of fertilizers and manure to maximize crop production.
