Effects of dietary energy and protein level for weaned lambs on rumen morphological and physiological properties and microbial diversity

摘要: The aim of the study was to evaluate the changes in the morphological structure and physiological properties of the rumen with different nutrients level and the development of rumen microorganisms based on the high-throughput sequencing method. Sixty four lambs with an initial body weight of 2.5 +/- 0.2 kg were randomly assigned to four groups. The lambs of the control group (CON) were fed a basal diet and the other three groups were subjected to either a diet with decreased protein (PR), a diet with decreased digestible energy (ER) or a diet with both lower protein and digestible energy (PER) at 20% of the l diet. Restriction of dietary protein or energy level decreased the average daily gain, rumen weight and mucosal thickness (P<0.05). Total volatile fatty acids (TVFA) and propionate proportion of the CON group were significantly higher than that of the other three groups (P<0.05). The dietary protein and energy level affected the microbial diversity and energy restriction increased the relative abundance of Fibrobacteres at the phylum level, whereas at the genus level increased the relative abundance of Butyrivibrio and Prevotellaceae.
