Research on the Accuracy and Applicability of the Measurement Method of Tree Canopy Volume Based on Ultrasonic Sensors

摘要: Tree canopy volume was a very important factor to determine the application rate of variable rate spraying system. A new measurement method of canopy volume was presented in this research. Four kinds of trees with different canopy shapes were chosen as the experimental objects, and the manual measurement values were taken as the reference values to analyze the accuracy and applicability of the new method. Results indicated that the accuracy of the automatic measurement method for column shape, spheral shape, olivary shape and spiry shape trees were 96.67%, 93.33%, 93.33% and 0 respectively, that is the automatic measurement method was applicable for column shape, spheral shape and olivary shape trees, but not applicable for spiry shape trees.
