Helminthosporium gramineum Rabenh f.sp echinochloae Secondary Metabolites for Biological Control of Barnyardgrass

摘要: The aim of this study was to determine the effects of secondary metabolites micro-emulsion (ME) of Helminthosporium gramineum Rabenh f.sp. echinochloae (HOE) on weeds in paddy fields. The results showed that the secondary metabolites ME of HOE displayed excellent activities on barnyardgrass [Echinochloacrus-galli (L.) Beauv.)] and a few other weed species. After treatment 7 d and 14 d, the 10% secondary metabolites ME had no negative impact effect on rice (Oryza sativa L.). After treatment 14 d and 28 d, the control effect of 10% secondary metabolites ME in the treatment of 2.25 kg a.i. ha(-1) against barnyardgrass and procumbent falsepimpernel [Lindernia procumbens (Krock.) Philcox] had no significant differences compared with 38% bensulfuron methyl plus quinclorac suspoemulsion, which showed a high efficacy on these two kinds of weeds, a low efficacy on sheathed monochoria [Monochoria vaginalis (Burm.f.)] and wild water chestnut (Eleocharis plantagineiformis). In addition, the alteration of cellular ultrastructure of barnyardgrass treated with ophiobolin A (the main components of HGE secondary metabolites) were observed by using transmission electron microscopes. After treatment, cell membranes of barnyardgrass leaves were found dramatically changed, and the ultrastructure of cells was severely deformed. The results showed that secondary metabolites ME had high selectivity against weeds, which has the potential as a kind of microbial agent for weeds control.
