摘要: Postharvest diseases caused by fungal infections and short storage periods are the main causes of economic losses of the 'Fengtang' plums. Using eco-friendly food additives to control postharvest diseases combined with controlled atmosphere (CA) storage to extend the storage period is a sustainable strategy for reducing postharvest losses. Herein, the antifungal activity of 15 food additives were screened through in vitro experiments. We observed that thymol exhibited the most pronounced antifungal effect against four primary pathogens: Monilinia fructicola, Fusarium acuminatum, Botrytis cinerea and Penicillium expansum. Subsequently, the combined effects of thymol and CA storage were evaluated on the quality, flavour, reactive oxygen species (ROS) metabolism, ascorbate-glutathione (ASA-GSH) cycle and energy metabolism of plum fruits during cold storage. The results demonstrated that the gas composition of CA2 treatment (3 % O2 + 10 % CO2) was optimal. The combination of thymol and CA storage notably outperformed CA treatment alone in preserving fruit quality and delaying senescence. The CA2+Thymol treatment was particularly effective in maintaining firmness, reducing decay and sustaining antioxidant activity throughout the storage period. This combined treatment approach provides a promising strategy for extending the storage life of 'Fengtang' plums by improving their resistance to postharvest diseases and oxidative stress.
