摘要: Silane-grafted-polyethylene/silica nanocomposite (VTMS-g-PE/SiO2) was melt compounded by reactive extrusion from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Vinyltrimethoxysilane (VTMS), organically modified SiO2 and Dicumyl Peroxide (DCP). Nanocomposite monofilaments were prepared by melt spinning through a co-rotating screw extruder and drawing at hot water. A series of tests such as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transfer Infrared (FT-IR) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry analysis (DSC) have been performed to characterize the morphology and thermal properties of the graft polymer and its nanocomposite monofilament. Results show that the SiO2 nano particles are well dispersed throughout the polymeric matrix. The introduction of silane-grafted group reduces the melt point (Tm), heat of fusion and degree of crystallinity (Xc) of polyethylene. With increasing SiO2 content, Tm, the melt peak width and Xc of VTMS-g-PE/SiO2 nanocomposite monofilaments increase. The breaking strength of the nanocomposite monofilaments are remarkably improved upon nanofiller addition, with the decrease of the elongation at break.
