Influence of Velocity on Ultrasonic Probing of Orchard Tree Profile

摘要: Orchard tree probing is a significant component in the target-oriented spraying technology. An orchard tree profile probing platform, which can precisely drive sensor in different specific speed and acquisition tree profile information at a series of positions, was designed based on ultrasonic sensor. Laboratory and orchard target probing experiments were carried out using the platform. The experiments results show that the target cross-sectional areas detected by ultrasonic sensor almost have no distinction at different speeds with maximum relative errors of 1.47% and 2.31%, which indicates that velocity has little influence on orchard tree volume detection. However, the speed has influence on the lag distance of profile detected. When the speed is lower than 0.2 m/s, the lag distance is 0. When the speed is 0.2 similar to 1.0 m/s, the lag distance gradually increases as the speed rises. The relationship between the lag distance and the speed is approximately linear, and the straight-line equation obtained has a high fitting accuracy, where R-2 = 0.967.
