摘要: Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is a climacteric tropical fruit with significant economic value, ranking fifth in global production. Despite its rich nutritional profile, mango is susceptible to rapid deterioration, with postharvest losses largely attributed to anthracnose-mediated oxidative stress and cell wall breakdown (30-60 % yield losses annually). To address these challenges, this study evaluates the effects of Electron Beam Irradiation (EBI) on the postharvest quality of mango (cv. Tai Nong No. 1) through enzyme activity measurements and transcriptomics. EBI uses high-energy electrons to generate reactive species that inhibit microbial growth and modulate fruit physiology. Physiological analyses revealed that EBI treatment at an optimal dose of 0.35 kGy delayed fruit softening, maintained firmness, and reduced malondialdehyde (MDA) content, indicating enhanced cell membrane integrity. Furthermore, transcriptome analysis identified differentially expressed genes (DEGs) related to ethylene biosynthesis, cell wall modification, and oxidative stress response. Pathway enrichment analysis highlighted significant regulatory mechanisms, including enhanced detoxification and reduced cell wall degradation, contributing to extended shelf life and improved postharvest quality. The integration of RT-qPCR and subcellular localization data reinforces this role further. These findings demonstrate the efficacy of EBI as an efficacious method for preserving mangoes and provide a comprehensive understanding of the potential of EBI to reduce postharvest losses, enhance storage tolerance, and ensure fruit quality. These results offer promising foundations for sustainable mango preservation and support the broader application of EBI in the postharvest management of perishable fruits.
