Measurement of thermal barrier coating thickness of turbine blade based on THz-TDS

摘要: In this paper, the coating thickness of thermal barrier coating (TBC) on gas turbine blades is measured by terahertz tune domain spectroscopy system (THz-TDS) . At present, the most mature and widely used ceramic layer material is yttria-partially-stabilized-zirconia (YSZ). The refractive index of YSZ sample obtained by electron beam physical vapor deposition in terahertz band is obtained by transmission THz-TDS. Then the time domain signals of three TBC samples with different thickness are obtained by reflective THz-TDS, and the thickness of the coating at 6 different positions was obtained from the time delay of terahertz wave transmission in the sample. When THz wave propagates at different depths of the sample, the dispersion is different, resulting in waveform broadening. We qualitatively analyze the influence of waveform broadening on thickness measurement. There is an overall deviation between the peak-to-peak thickness and valley-to-valley thickness of the coating measured from the reflected signals of the upper and lower surfaces of the coating, taking the thickness measurement results of metallographic method as a reference, the THz thickness results are in better agreement. The optical properties of YSZ material and the thickness of thermal barrier coating are nondestructive tested in Terahertz frequency range.
