Water use characteristics of artificial poplar forest based on Granier's thermal dissipation probe method

摘要: Water use characteristics of an artificial Poplar forest were investigated by combining the stem sap flow of Populus x euramericana cv. '74/76' measured by Granier's thermal dissipation probe method and the environmental factor in forests measured by a HOBO automatic weather station. The results showed that the daily pattern of water use of the poplars exhibited a mainly unimodal curve with a mean value of 5.61 cm(-3.)cm(-2)h(-1). The order of seasonal changes was summer (13.44 cm(-3.)cm(-2)h(-1)) > autumn (11.47 cm(-3.)cm(-2)h(-1)) > spring (6.8 cm(-3.)cm(-2)h(-1)) > winter. Each environmental factor and whole-tree water use represented a good cubic curve relation (R-2>0.51). Solar radiation, air temperature, soil temperature, and wind speed had a positive correlation with whole-tree water use. Air humidity had a negative correlation with whole tree water use. The correlation between soil moisture content and sap flow was poor, with a correlation coefficient of only 0.642. The results indicated that air humidity, soil temperature, and solar radiation were the most important factors impacting the whole-tree water use of poplar. According to the seasonal patterns of the poplars' water use, that in summer was greater. An appropriate irrigation amount during the leaf-flushing period, no irrigation during the transpiration peak period, and a lag period are recommended.
