Freezing Damage Factors and Physiological Indexes of Frost Resistance in Loquat

摘要: Frost injury in loquat (Eriobotrya japonica Lindl.) frequently occurred when temperature was below 0 degrees C for more than 5 h and was associated with >90% humidity. Frost injury become severe with the longer length of low temperature and high humidity stress. Frost-resistance decreases during different developmental stages from bud to fruit. 'Zaozhong No. 6' was more resistant to frost comparing to cultivar of 'Dawuxing'. Loquat trees located on slopes had better cold-resistant than those at the plains. Organs with stronger cold-resistant have greater superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme activity, higher content of proline, lower content of malondialdehyde (MDA), and electrolyte leakage.
