Anti-phytopathogens Activity of Antibiotic Compound F125 (Phenazine-1-carboxamide) from a Pseudomonas aeruginosa Strain SU8

摘要: Plant pathogenic fungi, Rhizoctonia solani and bacteria, such as Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola and X. campestris pv. citri, caused critical loss in agriculture. Developing new alternative biological agents with high efficiency and low toxicity is needed. In this work, An antagonistic Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain SU8 from a farm breeding ducks and growing rice simultaneously was isolated. It was identified according to its 16S rRNA gene and morphological, physiological and biochemical characteristics. Also, an antibiotic compound F125 (phenazine-l-carboxamide) was separated from its ethyl acetate extract. F125 showed 83.63% grow inhibition rate against R. solani at 0.01 mg/ml concentration, meanwhile, EC50 of it was 0.7863 mg/ml and 1.5661 mg/ml against X oryzae pv. oryzicola and X campestris pv. citri, respectively. Furthermore, F125 showed high safety for rice and mice. Rice could sprout and grow normally when F125 concentration was below 0.06 mg/ml and 0.1 mg/ml, respectively. Also, acute toxicity of F125 against mice resulted in LD50 > 5 mg/g BW (body weight). In a whole, F125 displayed a promising prospect in the crop disease prevention.
