Effects of dissimilar rootstocks on major nutrients translocation of bleeding sap in muskmelon

摘要: This paper was focused on the discussion about the major nutrients translocation in bleeding sap during muskmelon development and its responses to dissimilar grafting rootstocks. Grafting experiments with muskmelon (Cucumis melo L. cv. Zhongmi 1) as scion and white seed pumpkin (Cucurbita maximaxmoschata cv. Riben Strong, Qianwang and Shengzhen 1) as rootstocks have indicated that these dissimilar scion/rootstock combinations will exert different influences on the total volume and major nutrients translocation in bleeding sap. Grafting increased the total volume of bleeding sap at different developmental stages, and G1 (Zhongmi 1/Riben Strong) and G3 (Zhongmi 1/Shenzhen 1) enhanced the supply capacity of NO3-N, NH4-N, phosphorus and potassium to the aboveground parts from the root system. So based on the major nutrient supply capacity of root system for comprehensive consideration, G1 and G3 were superior grafting combinations for top quality and high yield potential.
