Effect of rice root exudates and strain combination on biofilm formation of Paenibacillus polymyxa and Paenibacillus macerans

摘要: Effect of strain combination and rice root exudates on biofilm formation of Paenibacillus polymyxa and Paenibacillus macerans were examined. These results indicated that bacterial growth was unaffected, but biofilm formation was reduced by strain combination compared to strain alone. In addition, rice root exudates are not favored for bacterial growth, but favored for biofilm formation compared to LB broth. To the best of our knowledge, this is first study about the beneficial effect of rice root exudates in biofilm formation. Overall, this data indicated that rice root exudates play an important role in biofilm formation of the Paenibacillus strains.
