摘要: The source of most primary productivity in fish ponds, phytoplankton converts solar energy into chemical energy through the process of photosynthesis. This chemical energy is consumed by fish and other aquatic organisms, and in this way the productivity of phytoplankton influences a pond's natural potential for fish production. This study measured illumination intensities and primary productivity in fish ponds. Gross photosynthetic production during the two hours after noon (clear day, GPN), when illumination was greatest, was strongly correlated with the gross photosynthetic production of the whole day (GPD). Gross photosynthetic production in fish ponds showed a strong positive correlation with fish yields, especially in the case of silver carp production. This study demonstrates that short measurements of primary productivity can be used to predict fish production, Nevertheless in intensely cultivated ponds, external energy inputs and the function of aquatic bacteria, as well as other factors, should also be considered.
