Dietary probiotic intervention strategies of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bacillus subtilis co-cultured in Litopenaeus vannamei with low fishmeal diet: insights from immune enhancement, anti-Vibrio and ammonia nitrogen stress

摘要: This study aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with co-cultured Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bacillus subtilis (CP) on the growth performance, immunity, stress resistance, and disease resistance of Litopenaeus vannamei fed diets with soybean meal replacing fishmeal. A basal diet served as the control (CT), and experimental diets were formulated by replacing 3 % of fishmeal with soybean meal and supplementing with 0 (LF), 250 (LF + CP250), 500 (LF + CP500), 1000 (LF + CP1000), and 2000 (LF + CP2000) mg/kg of CP. After a 56-day feeding trial, results showed that growth performance in the LF group was significantly lower than that in the CT group, while growth performance in the LF + CP1000 and LF + CP2000 groups was significantly higher compared to the LF group. The LF + CP1000 and LF + CP2000 groups have higher survival rates after Vibrio parahaemolyticus challenge and ammonia nitrogen stress compared to the LF group. Histopathological examination revealed severe vacuolation and deformation of hepatopancreatic tubules in the LF group, whereas the LF + CP1000 and LF + CP2000 groups maintained a relatively intact morphology. Additionally, the activities of immune-related enzymes were significantly lower, and malondialdehyde content was significantly higher in the LF group compared to the LF + CP1000 and LF + CP2000 groups. Furthermore, the dynamic changes in the expression levels of NF-kappa B signaling pathway-related genes in the hepatopancreas were positively correlated with the activities of immune-related enzymes and negatively correlated with MDA content. These results confirmed that CP had the effect of alleviating the immune damage of L. vannamei after soybean meal replaces fish meal.
