Synthesis of Starch Based Super Absorbent Polymer and the Water Retention Application in Sandy Soil

摘要: Super-absorbent polymer (SAP) is a novel functional material which can absorb hundreds to thousands times water. The excellent capacity of water of SAP makes it the use as soil water retaining agent in agriculture, horticulture and forestry. In this paper, sandy soil was applied to test the effects of water retaining ability with the mixture of acrylate SAP. Dehydration stage of the sandy soil could be prolonged after the addition of SAP. Water-holding capacity could hold above 10% wt in 42days. It was obviously higher than the sample which did not contain the SAP content. Water-holding capacity of the second irrigation increased than the first irrigation. Water holding and absorbent effects was proved when the addition of SAP.
