摘要: A systematic concept selection method was used for selecting preferred weeding tools that can operate in the intra-row and close to crop area while attached to an autonomous vehicle. The pursued methodology of concept selection demands definition andprioritizing of agronomic and engineering evaluation criteria in detail and to understand how the criteria apply to the solutions. It also constrains looking beyond the obvious first concept and fully exploring of a wider range of concepts. The systematic concept selection method provided a holistic view of eight evaluation criteria versus a list of 24 weeding tool concepts at hand in a spread sheet The preferred weeding tools were: i) laser for cutting stems of weeds or alternatively thermal treatmentof leaves, ii) mowers, Hi) rotating steel rods and iv) rotating vertical blades which are all direct weeding technologies for application at post-crop establishment.
