摘要： Last a decade, Streptococcus suis type 2 (S. suis type 2) became one of the most important pathogens to pigs in China. In 1998 and 1999, more than 50 thousand pigs were suffered from the typic virulent phenotype (mrp+epf+) S. suis type 2 in Nantong district, Jiangsu Province(l,2). Meanwhile, S. suis type 2 caused 21 meatmen or pig farmers infection and 14 death(3). The objection of this study is to understand the positive rate of S. suis type 2 and the phenotypes of their Muramidase-Released Protein(mrp) and Extracellular Protein (epf) in the herds known to be infected and the herds without an S. suis history recent years.
