摘要: The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of using clove oil as an anaesthetic in juvenile Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii). Our experiments were carried out under controlled laboratory conditions. We examined experimental concentrations of clove oil including 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180 mg/L. Each concentration was tested on 7 sturgeon with a mean body weight of 233.5 ± 593 g, and the anesthesia was administered to each fish individually. The fish behavior was traced and analyzed, and the time required for inducing anesthesia and recovery was recorded. These results showed that increasing the dosage of clove oil decreased the time required to induce each anesthesia stage. Furthermore, the mean time required for recovery was the shortest for the 120 mg/L group. There were significant differences of opercular rate in 60, 90, 150, and 180 mg/L groups during anesthesia and recovery, whereas no significant change was observed in the 120 mg/L group. At concentrations of 60-180 mg/L, the fish were completely anaesthetized for 152 to 420 s and recovered for 379 to 746 s. Based on our findings, the appropriate anesthetic concentration of clove oil for juvenile Siberian sturgeon may be —120 mg/L. At this concentration, sturgeon reach Stage 4 of anesthesia in 225 s and recover in 379 s.
