摘要: The VULCAIN demonstration is the 2012 major event of the French inter-services M&S community. This demonstration sponsored by the ADIS (French Defense Simulation alliance regrouping the French army, French MoD Procurement Agency - DGA- and Defense/M&S Industries) group will show the real benefits of employing M&S standards toward conducting a relevant and efficient joint training during the EUROSATORY bi-annual army exhibition show in Paris in June 2012. The ADIS group goal's is to improve M&S interoperability and foster reusability of systems used within French Ministry of Defense and industries that contribute to the success of the Armament Programmes. The ADIS Group is a forum that promotes the exchange of technology and best practices. More than 50 companies and 20 defense organizations contribute to forming a group of approximately 200 participants. EUROSATORY is the only international exhibition 100% dedicated to Land Security and Defense. The major actors in defense and homeland security came together in June 2012 for five days in Paris to launch and present their products (1,300 exhibitors from 54 countries and 54,000 professional visitors from ISO countries- based on 2010 participation). A dedicated M&S pavilion grouped French and international stakeholders so that they could demonstrate their innovative technological advances and share their experience in dealing with various uses of simulation in the defense area. Under this pavilion, the VULCAIN demonstration booth hosted an event involving the voluntary contribution of five companies from the ADIS group (ANTICYP Simulation, CASSIDIAN, MASA Group, PRESAGIS and SAGE Ad), and with participation from the DGA and the French Army to demonstrate the benefits associated with the use of M&S interoperability standards (e.g. CBML, MSDL, HLA) applied to joint operations training. From an operational standpoint, the VULCAIN demonstration first aims to prove that it is possible now to form a multi-resolution (from entity to Company), joint (Army, Navy and Air Force) federation of C2 and simulation systems that provides a realistic environment for satisfying various needs, such as representing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) capabilities and first-person shooter scenarios. Secondly, the demonstration seeks to prove that such a federation is cost effective by reducing time to configure and integrate a large number of systems and also by reducing the resources required to operate simulations. Thirdly, it will prove that whatever the echelon that is being trained, the concept demonstrated during EUROSATORY is suitable and consistent with the operational requirements for "train as you fight". This paper tells the remarkable story of the VULCAIN demonstration from its conception in November 2011 to its completion in June 2012. It addresses the provided capabilities and the technical architecture. In addition, it captures the obstacles, lessons learned and the feedback collected during discussions with the military users.
