摘要: Because domestic heating appliances have the advantage to reduce emissions of greenhouse gas, theirused greatly increase and is largely recommended by several European governments. However, some recent studiesrevealed that residential wood stoves and inserts are source of near a hundred of other chemical compounds. Themost important of them in terms of emission factor and impact on environment and human health are carbonmonoxide (CO) and fine particles. In the aim to reach this objective, a catalytic system, placed at the exit of thefireplace 15 cm up from of the duct fireplace was developed to reduce pollutants. Pollutant characterization of adomestic fireplace from FONDIS SA, according to two paces of functioning (nominal and low-charge), wasperformed with and without the presence of the catalyst. Moreover, fine (PM10 and PM2.5) an ultrafine (PM1 andPM0.1) particle distributions were characterized using an Electrical Low Pressure Impactor (ELPI), purchased fromDEKATI. The presence of a catalyst drastically decreases emission factors of CO. If the catalytic system alsopresents efficiency towards total suspended particles emission factor, it does not affect emission factors of PM10 toPM0.1.
