摘要： In recent years, Institute of Sci-Tech Information of the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences (ISTI, GAAS) has developed many websites to provide online services on agricultural information management for local governments and enterprises. Thecontent of these websites is mainly supported by information organized by a group of databases of related agricultural fields. At the same time, ISTI has noticed with special interest the progress and efficient application of ontologies within the AOS project, which could enhance and leverage ISTI’s current services. This paper provides a short discussion and the preliminary output of adopting the corresponding technologies to leverage the original information in the databases to the knowledge level, as well as the potential effects on the current and future related service.
