Evaluation on protective effects of three kinds of Schistosoma japonicum antigens against schistosomiasis in farm animal

摘要: This wort; aimed to observe the most ideal antigen vaccines against schisosomiaisis by evaluating the protective efficacy of defined antigen of Chinese strain S.japonicum and the recombinant antigens produced in Shangahi Institute of Animal Parasitology in natural ruminant hosts (cattle and buffaloes) in the endemic area. The results of field trial showed that the worm reduction rates post field challenge in buffaloes immunized with r-paramyosin, Sj 28GST and Sj23 antigen vaccines could reach 32-34%. showing very significant differences, while the worm reduction rates of 30.7% and 31.8% in cattle vaccinated with n-paramyosin and rSj23 antigen, did not show significant differences as compared with the control. Further studies on the protective effects of these vaccine candidates on farm animals will be conducted in the near future.
