Study on Key Technologies of Location-Based Service (LBS) for Forest Resource Management

摘要: Considering the urgent need for real-time spatial information services in forest resource management, we examine difficult issues of location-based services (LBS) and solve key problems by means of distributed computing technology. First, ultra-short wave radio communication technology and GPS technology were integrated to overcome weak wireless communication signals in forest regions. Second, the foundational LBS platform framework for forest resources management is proposed under the distributed computing environment, and core middlewares/components of positioning operation, location computing and location-based services designed and developed to provide fine-grained level of components services. Last, based on core components, a zero-cost prototype system of forestry LBS was established using integrated technologies of 3S (GPS, RS and GIS), communication technology in mobile network and positioning technology. Our findings were preliminarily used in the forestry industry for forest-fire prevention, positioning of trees and the monitoring of plant diseases and insect pests and had received a good result in real-time positioning accuracy, data collection and response speed.
